By air: flying into Gibraltar (GIB)#
Gibraltar International Airport (IATA: GIB) sits on the narrow isthmus between the Rock and Spain. As of 2026 it is served by two UK airlines only — there are no direct flights from mainland Europe — so most visitors arrive from London or a UK regional hub.

From the airport to Marina Bay#
This is the part people don’t expect: you can walk. Marina Bay and Ocean Village are the closest part of town to the terminal.

Leave the terminal and follow signs for the town
Exit onto Winston Churchill Avenue — the town is straight ahead, with the Rock rising on your left.

Cross the runway on foot
Follow the marshalled pedestrian crossing over the runway (or the signed subway if a flight is due). It takes a couple of minutes.

Bear right for the marina
Once across, bear right towards the waterfront and Ocean Village. Marina Bay is about 10 minutes on foot from the terminal in total — an easy walk with a wheeled case.
By land: crossing the border from Spain#
Plenty of visitors fly into a Spanish airport, base themselves in La Línea de la Concepción (the Spanish town right on the border), or road-trip the Costa del Sol, and simply walk into Gibraltar. The border is open 24 hours.

The pedestrian crossing is a short walk from La Línea’s centre and its large car parks.

Gibraltar is not in the Schengen Area, so there is passport control. On foot this is usually quick — a few minutes outside peak times.

You then walk across the same airport runway; Marina Bay is roughly 10–12 minutes on the far side.
Flying into Spain instead#
If Gibraltar’s two airlines don’t suit, the nearest Spanish airports open up far more of Europe. Both are an easy drive, plus border time.
